STREVA Films

How does it feel to live through a volcanic eruption? Early in our project, the communities who had lived through the eruptions told us they wanted a record of their experiences. These experiences can also tell us a lot about what to do during an eruption, and how communities recover. So we set out to capture this in several films. As we made the films we learned together about what worked well, and they evolved. We started in St. Vincent with a trilogy of films (relating to experiences of the 1979 eruption of La Soufriere). We then made a trilogy of films about the eruption and recovery from Nevado Del Ruiz in Colombia. Following that we made some more specific films, and teamed up with the VOLFILM group to add films of experience to their volcanic risk communication films.
